Before you call about an emergency
If a powerline is involved, ring Ausgrid on 13 13 88 first and keep everyone at least eight metres away from any line on the ground. Assume it is live. If a tree is on the house and the building is unsafe, or someone is trapped, ring 000. For storm damage where nobody is in danger, the SES number is 132 500.
Once that is in hand, ring us with what has failed, where it has landed, and whether the property is accessible. The emergency page covers what happens next.
Where we work
The regular footprint covers Chatswood, Hornsby, Lane Cove, Willoughby, Ryde, St Ives, Gordon and Pymble, plus Killara, Turramurra, Wahroonga, Roseville, Artarmon, Northbridge and Hunters Hill. If you are just outside that, ring anyway.
What happens after you call
Someone arranges a time to look at the tree. You get a written scope and a fixed price, including whether a council application is needed and who lodges it. Nothing gets cut until the permit position is clear. Green waste is chipped and removed, and the site is left blown down.

Frequently asked questions
What information helps when I ring?
The suburb and street, roughly how tall the tree is, what species it is if you know, what sits underneath it, and how a vehicle would get near it. Photographs help enormously — one from a distance showing the whole tree and one at the base. With those we can often tell you the permit position on the call.
How soon can someone come and look?
Usually within a few days for a quote, sooner where a tree is unsafe. Emergency storm work is answered around the clock. If something has already come down, ring rather than email, and say whether anyone is cut off or a powerline is involved.
Who do I call if it is a powerline or a life-threatening emergency?
Ausgrid on 13 13 88 for anything involving powerlines, and stay at least eight metres clear of a fallen line. The SES on 132 500 for storm and flood assistance, including a tree on a house. Triple zero if anyone is trapped or injured. Ring us once the immediate danger is being handled.
