Who this policy applies to
This policy covers personal information collected through northshoretreecare.com.au and by telephone on (02) 9090 4915. It is written to the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
This is a referral website. Enquiries are passed to independent tree contractors working on Sydney's North Shore, which means your details are disclosed to a third party in order to quote and carry out your job. That is set out in detail below and in the disclaimer.
What we collect
Information you give us. Your name, phone number, email address, the address of the property where the tree work is required, and whatever you tell us about the job — species, size, access, photographs, and any council correspondence you choose to share.
Information collected automatically. Standard web server and analytics data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the pages you viewed, the referring page and search terms where the search engine passes them, and timestamps. This is used in aggregate to understand how the site is used.
We do not collect payment card details through this website, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
Why we collect it and how it is used
To respond to your enquiry, to prepare a quote, to arrange and carry out tree work, to communicate with you about a booked job, to keep records of work performed, and to meet legal and insurance obligations. We may contact you about a quote you requested. We do not sell personal information.
Who it is disclosed to
Your contact details and job details are passed to the independent tree contractor allocated to your enquiry, so they can quote and perform the work. Where a council application is required for your tree, the relevant information is provided to that council as part of the application. Information may also be disclosed to service providers who host the website or handle enquiry forms, to insurers and professional advisers where relevant to a claim or dispute, and where disclosure is required or authorised by law.
We do not disclose personal information overseas as a routine matter, although some hosting and form infrastructure may store data on servers outside Australia.
Cookies and analytics
The site uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences and to measure traffic. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings; blocking them may affect how parts of the site work. Where third-party analytics or tag management tools are in use, those providers set their own cookies and are subject to their own privacy policies.
Storage, security and retention
Information is held in enquiry systems and job records with access limited to those who need it. Reasonable technical and organisational steps are taken to protect it against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, though no transmission over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure. Records are kept for as long as needed for the purpose collected and to meet legal, tax and insurance requirements, then destroyed or de-identified.
Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to the personal information held about you, and ask for it to be corrected if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. Ring (02) 9090 4915 or use the contact page.
If you believe your privacy has been interfered with, raise it with us first and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes
This policy may be updated. The current version is always the one published here. See also the terms and conditions.
